Vanuatu participated in the inaugural Australian U23 Beach Volleyball Championships at Coolangatta,Gold Coast this weekend.
Vanuatu u23 paired won their first game yesterday against two outstanding Australian players.
According to Vanuatu beach Volleyball facebookpage, they said the two girls are going to play all weekend , they asked for supporter’s who live in Gold coast to come down and watch the two girls playing.
The Ceo of Volleyball Australia Mr.Mathieu Meriaux said the purposed of this u23 tournament is to link the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships with the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour. It takes all the development opportunities from Junior Volleyball and starts to put them into the context of how senior Beach Volleyball is played in Australia.
The tournament involved in both women and men u23 category. According to the Australian volleyball website, men’s competition, South Australia’s Max Guehrer and Queensland’s Tim Dickson will be looking to build on the bronze medal they won at the NSW Open in Manly last month.
Bryce Poland and Justin Schumann, who teamed up with brother Damien to win silver at the NSW Open, will also be in the hunt for the Australian title, as will recent Oceania Championship title holders, Marcus Ferguson and Paul Burnett.
The 3 days competition started yesterday and will end on sunday 22 January with the medal presentation ,
Coolangatta Beach will be the venue for next year’s debut of beach volleyball at the Commonwealth Games.
