“Van2017 Pacific Mini Games is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the single biggest event that Vanuatu has ever hosted in its history especially the legacy that will be left behind after the games” said Tanearu Terry Maki , our newly appointed Games Village Supervisor.

“I have been very fortunate to get this appointment for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games, and as Games Village Supervisor, working alongside a team of both new and experienced staff under the command of the Team Services Manager, our role is to ensure that the visiting teams, officials and athletes get the best service available at the Games Village venues.”

‘’We are already working very hard in securing certain venues around Port Vila and a lot of work is yet to be done to get the venues reshaped, refaced and refreshed. Our main objective is to prepare and present the Games village services and atmosphere to at least meet the region’s standards so the athletes, officials and teams can leave feeling very satisfied and take home with them a slice of the Vanuatu experience,” said Maki.

Originally from Efate, he started at Manua Primary school, going to Malapoa College before he went to New Zealand to complete NZ National Certificate in Business Studies from Nelson Polytechnic.

Returning to Vanuatu, he was also awarded with a Community Development Certificate 4 course as a graduate from APTC in Port Vila.

Tanearu also known as Tane was employed by the ANZ Bank (Vanuatu) Ltd soon after having completed his studies in 1993 until 2011.

Tane has been engaged in soccer since childhood, and he loves football and one of the reasons he is now an executive member of VFF, and also the President of Shefa Football Association.

“I have a strong belief that sports plays a very important role in the development of any country’s social structure and human resources. Sport does not only promote friendship and camaraderie but most importantly it promotes a healthy and wealthy nation.

Long Live VAN2017… Long Live Vanuatu!”  Tanearu confidently stated.
